The press office manages relations between the Met Office and the media. It acts as the first point of contact for local, national and international media enquiries. It issues news releases and statements on behalf of the organisation on many topics from climate change to the day-to-day weather and more.

About the press office

The press office is staffed by a mixture of trained meteorologists and former journalists.

We can also facilitate a wide range of media activities including:

  • providing further experts for comment on weather and climate change issues

  • providing a vast range of historical data information

  • arranging and overseeing filming relevant to our work

  • dealing with photographic enquiries

  • providing an out-of-hours media service

  • media toolkits
